Skobel Homes give a higher mpg

Energy Smart Home Scale

Would you buy a car without knowing the MPG?

Buying your new home should be treated the same way.

Homes can be tested and receive a numeric score that provides you with an objective measure of a home's energy performance, similar to a car's MPG rating. The E-scale is designed to provide clear, objective answers to basic questions:

  • Will this home help me save money on energy bills?
  • How many "miles per gallon" does this home get?
  • How does it compare to a typical new home?

All Skobel Homes are tested and certified by an independent, third party to determine the energy performance or E-Scale score of the home. As a participant in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Program, Skobel Homes guarantees that all new homes will score 60 or lower on the E-Scale. This amounts to 70% or more savings each month on your energy bill when compared to a typical existing home (homes built prior to 2004) and 40% or more savings each month when compared to a typical new home. Actual Savings will vary with options and living habits. Results reported to the U.S. Department of Energy indicate that the majority of homes with these features will achieve these results.

Skobel Homes rates 60, a typical new home 100, and typical existing home 130
