Building Your New Home

Taking only four months to construct from permit until completion, your new home will be ready for you to move in before you know it. Explore the key stages of construction for your new Skobel Home with this simple step by step summary.

  • Preconstruction

Before construction begins, you must choose a lot for your new home to be built on and a home model that suits your family’s needs.

  • Foundation

Water, sewer and some electric will be piped under your home’s foundation and then concrete will be poured into a temporary wooden frame outlining the shape of your home.

  • Structural Shell

This next step is exciting because you can begin to visualize your new home. The walls and roof come together to create the outer shell of your home.

  • Mechanical Install

Plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and electric are piped, ducted, and wired throughout the walls and attic of your home allowing you to live with the modern conveniences of water, electricity and air conditioning.

  • Roof Install

The roof is sealed and then covered with shingles or roof tiles.

  • Walls

Exterior walls are filled with insulation to keep your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Drywall is then hung to separate the interior rooms. Doors and decorative moldings are installed next. Now you can start to plan out your furniture arrangements and your kids can debate over whose room is whose.

  • Exterior Stucco

Stucco is applied to the exterior of the home and is then painted.

  • Interior Finishings

The interior is primed and painted. Then tile is installed, followed by cabinet and countertop installation.

  • Mechanical Trims

HVAC vents, exhaust fans, plumbing fixtures, electric switches and fixtures are all installed.

  • Carpet and Wood Install

Your home is almost complete, wood and carpet flooring are installed last.

  • Landscaping

The exterior of your home is brought to life with fresh plants, flowers and new trees.
